Hi there!

So, I guess you’re wanting to know a little more about me? Well, I completed my bachelor’s degree in 2019 at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, majoring in journalism and communications and media studies. I first worked as an editorial assistant before being quickly promoted to editor of a bridal magazine, with interstate editions being published biannually. I took over as editor with no prior editing or formal management experience as the biggest edition was going to print - you could say I love a challenge! During this time, I would determine print deadlines, manage a small team of writers, brainstorm and research story ideas for features, as well as travelling across the country to coordinate and organise bridal fashion shoots. I have a varied skill set, and take pride in my writing, editing and interviewing abilities. I love to meet new people and am constantly setting new goals for myself, whether it’s taking on a new and exciting role, or learning to use a new program.

With this in mind, I made the big move back to the UK a couple of years ago, utilising my previous knowledge and experience in the bridal publishing industry for an established newspaper and magazine company. I recently spent six months in Edinburgh working as an editor for a marketing and communications agency. My editing skills came in handy as I was often sought after to proof client copy, while also managing projects and the company’s social media channels.

Some of my many skills include…

  • Photography – not only do I own an ever-growing collection of cameras, but my images have been published alongside my written work, as well as being used for marketing and social media purposes

  • Writing – an obvious one, but I am comfortable writing short form or long form copy while adapting my writing to suit any topic and tone of publication or assignment.

  • Social media content creation and management - I can create and execute content schedules, utilise planning apps and conduct research to facilitate organic audience growth and engagement.

  • Interviewing – I enjoy interviewing people from all walks of life. During my career, I’ve interviewed a diverse range of individuals from children and the elderly to artists, politicians, and industry experts.

  • Editing and proofreading – my previous role as editor in Melbourne saw me proofing all copy for magazines, both my own and deputy editing others under homes, outdoor design and winery topics. I have also reviewed manuscripts for house style prior to publication, and I know sub-edit client copy for projects in my current role.

I also have experience in programs and apps such as…

  • Microsoft Suite

  • Google Docs and Sheets

  • Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat and Premiere Pro

  • Content Management Systems including WordPress and Squarespace

  • MailChimp

  • Radio and newsroom equipment (including cameras, microphones and recording devices)

  • Planoly and Later

  • Meta Business Suite

  • Canva

  • Basecamp

I’m always looking to challenge myself and learn new skills. If any of the above piques your interest, please feel free to get in touch.
